Wandering the streets of inner city Melbourne in the evening and pre-dawn is a revelation. One gets a very different perspective and sense of place. The streetscapes we pay little attention to during daylight hours take on a whole new appearance under the glow of artificial light. It’s almost as if a spotlight has been cast onto the scene to enable us to scrutinize and appreciate the singular beauty of the urban vista. Taken in 2013, these photographs helped to deepen my appreciation of the multi-layered environment in which I live. This work was exhibited as part of the fringe program of the 2013 Ballarat International Foto Biennale.
